Vanai Bistro & Bastu offers a traditional wood-heated log sauna and outdoor hot tub by Lake Vanajavesi, just next to Hämeenlinna railway station and within walking distance of the city centre.
If you are looking for an authentic sauna in Hämeenlinna, Vanai combines traditional Finnish sauna culture with a relaxed lakeside atmosphere. Enjoy the gentle heat of the wood-burning stove inside our log-built sauna and unwind under the open sky in the outdoor hot tub on the terrace.
Private Sauna Experience
Vanai’s sauna can be booked privately for birthdays, company evenings, small celebrations and relaxed gatherings with friends.
The sauna comfortably accommodates around 12 people on the benches at one time. The outdoor hot tub on the terrace fits up to five bathers simultaneously. The maximum group size for private bookings is 15 people.
The sauna building includes:
- Two separate changing rooms
- Shower facilities
- Lockable storage
- Shampoo, conditioner and bench cloths
There is no separate lounge area inside the sauna building. For larger groups, we recommend reserving one of our private dining rooms in connection with the sauna.
The sauna and terrace area are licensed for alcohol service. Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted. Drinks can be purchased from the restaurant before or during your sauna session.

Public Sauna Sessions
Vanai also offers public sauna sessions in Hämeenlinna. These are shared sessions for both men and women, and swimwear is required.
Public sessions are organised on selected weekdays. Please check availability in our booking calendar.
